DonorsChoose.Org
June 2019 — August 2019 | New York, US
Company Overview
DonorsChoose.org is a crowdfunding platform targeting teachers in the United States and helping them raise money and purchase the materials needed for their classroom activities. I collaborated with the Partnership Managers to help them research and strategize compelling partnership renewals with corporate organizations like HBO, Verizon, Disney or AT&T.
My Role: Partnerships Intern
Key Responsibilities: Partnership Renewal Strategy, Data Analysis (in Salesforce & Looker), Qualitative & Quantitative Research both Internal & External
The Problem
As the nonprofit landscape in the educational sector is highly competitive in the United States, the Partnerships Managers needed to craft compelling proposals for the companies they worked with that differentiate their offerings from other peer nonprofits.
The Solution
Conducted research on three main pillars. First, I researched the strategic and philanthropic strategies of companies the organization was targeting. Second, I conducted extensive research on the programs and creative strategies peer organizations are using to attract sponsorships. Lastly, I conducted cross-functional research to help DonorsChoose.org improve its strategy for using and evaluating gift card campaigns for its partners.
The Results
8 partnership renewal strategies for companies like HBO, Verizon, and Samsung
2 slide decks to illustrate actionable lessons to be learned from peer nonprofits
Proposed Salesforce reporting changes for better revenue tracking and retention analytics in gift card campaigns
Delivered a cross-department presentation with best practices and issues reporting for gift card campaigns where I offered actionable insights
